Ideus DNS certification
Dr. Ideus earns DNS certification
In September, Tyler Ideus, D.C., traveled to Prague, Czech Republic, to complete the final course for his certification in Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS). In total he has completed more than 240 hours of course work in DNS as well as a three-month internship with international DNS instructor Brett Winchester, D.C.
"My trip to Prague was imperative, helping me perfect my skills and enhance my knowledge of DNS," Dr. Ideus said. "I hope to make trips back there to continue to learn the best ways to treat my patients here in the U.S."
With this skill he can provide extremely specific rehabilitation in addition to his other soft tissue and manipulation techniques. Besides two physicians in St. Louis, Mo., Dr. Ideus is the only certified DNS practitioner in the region.
For more specific information about DNS, please go to the
Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization
page within the Treatment section of this website.
STORY new site
Havelock Chiropratic Center Launches New Website
To provide patients with a more in-depth view of HCC's chiropractic philosophy and approach, Dave Lauer, D.C., and Tyler Ideus, D.C., decided to revamp
www.havelockchiro.com
.
"We really wanted the site to educate patients on chiropractic as well as the other manual therapy techniques we use," Dr. Lauer said. "The site also does a good job of explaining what patients can expect when they visit."
Within the Treatments section of the site, patients can learn about the different techniques Dr. Lauer and Dr. Ideus will use to get them out of pain and help them avoid injuries in the future. Visitors can also get to know the doctors, meet the staff and download new patient paperwork.
"We know it's important for patients to feel connected to their healthcare providers, so through the website we are able to offer educational material, advice, research and general insight to chiropractic, manual therapy in general, and healthy living," Dr. Ideus said. "We just really hope everyone enjoys it, and we always appreciate suggestions."

Exercise Tips
Exercise Tips from Dr. Lauer
As we unpack this new year, many of us find our energy towards change and resolutions waning. However, as was recently discussed in a
New York Times blog
, there is good news for those of us with limited time to exercise:
Less time + higher intensity = better results!
I often have female patients resist weight training out of fear of "bulking up" and getting larger not leaner. This is a bit of a fallacy, and I hate to see anyone overlook the benefits of strength conditioning without all the information. In a country with a growing epidemic of Type II Diabetes, we should know that the exercise that has the most beneficial effect on glucose metabolism is strength conditioning, not running on a treadmill or doing the stair stepper. Find out more about how weight training can help you
in this article from Peak Fitness
.
Each year as we near May, we see more people training for the Lincoln Marathon and Half Marathon. The diversity of people running is only matched by the differing motivations. One hot topic is whether or not barefoot running or forefoot landing is better than running shoes with heel padding and thus heel striking. Unfortunately, the jury is still out on this one. As someone who had knee surgery one year ago in part due to attempting to run with a forefoot landing gait, I can attest to the fact that the only truthful answer is...it depends. I encourage you to read
this discussion in a scholarly review
, and t
